Keynote speaker Dr. Linda Barnard is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist, in private practice in Sacramento since 1981. Dr. Barnard has also served as a trainer and consultant to various domestic violence programs in northern California since 1982
Other professionals at the conference will be Geraldine Stahly, PhD, who will present research findings, and Kathleen Russell, legislative director of the Center for Judicial Excellence, who will present and discuss Garland Waller's documentary: No Way Out But One.
Journalist Jane Stevens will discuss the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) studies by Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease Control. The ACE studies show that child sexual abuse as well as other types of traumatic childhood events prevent healthy development and have become a public health emergency.
This workshop will be appropriate for therapists, survivors, friends, and relatives. Professionals can earn up to six CEU's by registering, but the 2013 ISSB Conference will be offered at no-cost and no-registration so that all who care to can attend free of charge.
Professionals can choose to register if they want to earn up to 6 CEUs for the full day. Linda Barnard, PhD, is approved to offer continuing education to marriage & family therapists and social workers by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences, PCE#4159.
